Hello!

the story behind it all

My name is Stefanie - I am a wife to a most passionate and creative architect in Melbourne and mother of two amazing  forward thinking adult children who are also inspiring architects in the family Architecture Business . I am blessed to have a family who inspire me, make me laugh and support me whenever help is needed and stick together when things get stuff!!

I have been artistic all my life and my journey of Graphic Design took place after my university studies and began working in the print making industry for many years. Once married I started a freelance Graphic Design business in 1989 from home, which gave me the flexibility to work and care for my family. It wasn't until 1996 that the concept of personalised candles and stoles started and it slowly bloomed into my main line of work today, so I'd love to share with you the story about how this came about.

In the process of organising our second child's baptism, it was requested that a candle and stole with our son's name and baptism date on them to be presented on the day of the ceremony. I had absolutely no idea where to go to organise this as our first child was baptised at another church and didn’t require these specifications as we only lit a plain pillar candle and used a white 'heirloom' family christening gown.

Feeling rather frustrated, I researched in the Yellow Pages (because Google was not yet invented!)  and quickly found that there were no retail shops in our local area which catered for personalised candles or stoles. So I decided to take matters into my own hands. With my background in graphic design I put my artistic ability into action! I went straight to Lincraft and purchased a long, wide white ribbon for the stole and some iron-on adhesive lettering. I hand drew a gold cross - done!  As for the candle, puff paint and a few religious stickers and bedazzled jewels worked wonderfully! Baptism ceremony went very well!

After this experience I began thinking that I could find a way to help others with this most frustrating situation who may not have the creative ability like myself. I presented the idea to my local parish and I soon enough was assisting families within our community. I decided to launch this website only a few years ago, in the way to reach out to other families, in particular in rural and remote areas of Australia.

My techniques in creating these products haven't changed much since conception. It maybe a 'little old school', but i find they are still worthy of being a keep sake for anyone as each item is truly made with love!

Thankyou for reading my story and hope to assist you in the future. Please mention if you have read this passage, as it will mean a lot to me.

Best wishes,

Stefanie
